Donations

We kindly request family flowers only for the funeral, but we would welcome donations in Chris' memory to one of the charities listed below.

British Heart Foundation

In 2012, Chris collapsed whilst playing football and was subsequently diagnosed with a congenital bicuspid aortic valve. He had a mechanical aortic valve replacement at Hammersmith Hospital, which gave us twelve more precious years with him.

The research, health information, and rehabilitation support provided by the BHF were a key part of his successful treatment and recovery. Chris especially enjoyed the cardiac rehab exercise classes he started while recovering, which eventually led him to his weekly "Keep Fit" classes in retirement. If you would like to make a donation to the BHF in Chris' memory to continue to fund their research into heart and circulatory diseases each year, you can use the link below:

The Children's Literacy Charity

Chris was a keen reader and an amazing writer and storyteller. He would weave all sorts of creative bedtime stories, silly songs, and funny poems for his daughter Rachel growing up. In his work as a Librarian and at the Arts Council he was a firm advocate for accessible, high-quality education and arts initiatives to tackle social inequalities, especially for children and young people.

The Children's Literacy Charity works with the most disadvantaged children in society to help them to close their literacy gap. They provide tailored small group literacy tuition, helping children to grow in skills and confidence, engage in learning, and achieve their full potential.
